DIY Tutorials

I'm back to my, 'tired of old clothes, so let's make 'em new' phase.  I haven't stopped.  No sleep.  Just coffee, laptop, material and craft supplies.

Considering a few sleepless nights, this DIY rocker crop top can be done in 3 steps!

What you will need:
-any old top
-fringe (or tassels whatever you perfer)
-long (measure the width of your top), thin piece of material (I used a delicate fabric belt that came with a shirt I bought a while ago)
-no sew fabric glue (I swear by Unique Stitch!)

Step 1: (No sew) glue your fringe to the longer piece of material

Step 2: You have 2 options

Option 1: If the material chosen is leather or even a color to create color blocking, you could no sew it right on to the shirt.  If you choose this option then you are done in 2 steps.  Seriously.

Option 2: I slit a small line where I wanted the fringe to start.  No sewed it to the inside material.

Step 3: (optional) Once dried, use a thin layer of no sew (once again), to make sure the fabric is bonded to the added material.

That's that.  An adorable, and very trendy shirt made in no time while spending no money!!

DIY.....success.

Easy, inexpensive yet feminine wall art
Total Cost= $5
(I had some materials lurking around)
If you want to make this from scratch the approx. total cost $9

What you will Need:
1. Frame ($3 @ dollar store)
2. Thick ribbon ($1 @ dollar store- for real)
3. Adhesive pearl/jewels ($1-$2 @ dollar store)
4. Scissors (pretty sure you'll have a pair but if not, once again, dollar store)
Step by Step Tutorial
1. Take frame apart and separate all pieces

2. Gather the piece that has cutouts on it (we'll call that 1) and the paper that has fake pictures on it (call that one 2). Flip over paper 2 so you can't see the fake pictures. Place 1 on top of 2 and trace the boxes. After all boxes are traced, draw a light straight line down the very centre of paper 2.

3.Cut out 5 square boxes of the ribbon (*cut a bit larger than the boxes on paper 1-always be safe then sorry!)

4. Start to layer on jewels. I chose pearls and big rhinestones to create that vintage glam look. This step allows YOU to be creative and have fun.

*if you like the chevron look I did, I used that light line down the centre of the paper be my guide for the point of the jewels.

5. When all 5 papers are completed.  Glue, tape, tack (whatever you prefer) to paper 2. If you're using glue, make sure you let it dry completely.  Put the frame back together and...

Feather Bouquet Tutorial

Need:
-White (or your color of choice) feathers...I get mine at the dollarstore for a buck!
-Adhesive jewels (I used the same ones as in the Vintage-Glam Chevron Wall Art
-Thread (white or color to match feathers)
-Scissors

Step 1

Gather a bunch of feathers together (I used about 6- 2 longer, 2 med, 2 shorter)

Step 2

Cut a long piece of thread and tie around the feather stems (tie them as tight as you can to keep them together).  You can use a hot glue gun for this but I knew that mine would be secured in the photo framed art. When dry or tied, cut loose ends

Step 3

Wrap jewel adhesives around the base of the feathers to hide the stems from showing

And that's it! An adorable feather bouquet to add a bit of glam to whatever it is you are making!
